2nd Anniversary of the Gold Coast Youth Foyer

Two years ago, I had the privilege of opening the Gold Coast Youth Foyer.

Last month I was joined by young people who now have a safe place to call home, to celebrate the Foyer’s 2nd anniversary. The Gold Coast Youth Foyer has now helped more than 60 people.

It’s hard to study or go to work if you don’t have a safe place to call home and that’s exactly why our government is investing in this project - to give these young people a start in life.

One of them, Damon, was living in his car. Now he’s working full time and hoping to open his own Youth Foyer one day, just like this one that helped him.

Rain, Hail or Shine!

These are the parts of my job I love the most - being out in the community!

My team and I have been door knocking in Pacific Pines and Worongary reminding everyone about the $550 power rebate or up to $1072 for seniors and concession card holders.

It’s also been great catching up with you all at events like:

• Our cost-of-living BBQ in Nerang

• The Pacific Pines Primary School Colour Blast fundraiser

• Worongary State School’s 30th birthday celebration

• The Navaratri Festival in Nerang hosted by the Gold Coast Hindu Cultural Association

Improving Wellbeing in Our State Schools

Our Government is employing psychologists and other wellbeing professionals in schools.

Soon every state school student will have access to free appointments.

That’s where Julie comes in. She’s a psychologist at Worongary State School, helping kids to live happier and healthier lives.

As of September this year, we have 453 psychologists and wellbeing professionals like Julie, with more on the way. 

It’s great for kids – and great cost of living relief for families.

Farewell Dot!

Dot is one of the kindest people I know.

We said goodbye as she’s moving to Hervey Bay after being a part of the Pacific Pines Residents Group Inc. for around 14 years!

Dot was also one of the founding members of the Pacific Pines Seniors Group.

She’s given up so many hours, quietly working behind the scenes on the Winterfest and Christmas Carols each year, updating the community notice board and so much more.

Pacific Pines is a better place for having Dot Brickles and I will certainly miss her.
