Ros Bates is either deliberately misleading M1 motorists or is simply incompetent claiming no more resumptions are required for a second M1 says Member for Gaven Meaghan Scanlon.
“The second M1 (Coomera Connector) is NOT shovel ready after it was stopped for three years by the LNP Newman Government,” she said.
“It still requires extensive planning and some resumptions after the LNP stopped it being included in the SEQ Regional Plan and Gold Coast City Plan.
“That’s why the Member for Mudgeeraba’s claims on television last night were so misleading.
“All Ros bates had to do was to ask her former Newman Government colleagues or check the Transport and Main Roads website.
“The public records are very clear. When the LNP was in government not a single new dollar was spent on the M1.
“In contrast the Palaszczuk Government has secured funding for four M1 uprades stages and is developing the second M1.
“Two stages have been gazetted over the past 18 months between Nerang and Coomera and Coomera to Stapylton.”
Ms Scanlon said the Palaszczuk Government has already delivered the Exit 54 interchange upgrade and would complete the Exit 57 interchange upgrade next year.
“We have finalised planning to ensure the timely delivery of the next stages of the upgrade between Eight Mile Plains and Daisy Hill and between Varsity Lakes and the border.
“And the planning work needed to prepare for further upgrades, at Yatala North, Yatala South, Ormeau and Pimpama are under way,” she said.
